WHAT DOES BEAUTY ARTISTRY MEAN TO YOU?

I am a painter first and a makeup artist second. They go hand in hand. Growing up as a painter helped me understand color theory, shapes and textures which I later was able to translate onto a face. I started my career in film creating characters which helped me become a creative beauty artist when I stepped into the fashion/celebrity/beauty space years later. It's not just creating a look that is beautiful but creating a character with a story.

WHICH BOSS BATTLE IN YOUR CAREER TAUGHT YOU THE MOST? (A CHALLENGING PROJECT, DIFFICULT CONDITIONS, OR CREATIVE OBSTACLE YOU HAD TO OVERCOME)

Working on Euphoria Season 2 under Donni Davy really was a turning point not only in my life but also my career. It was like a 9 month makeup boot camp. Always keeping us on our toes and we had to be able to pivot and keep up with continuity on a moment's notice all while creating looks that not only told the characters story through makeup but also do it in a time limit and do it perfectly. It was by far the hardest thing I have ever done in my career and also the most rewarding. After surviving the show and winning an Emmy for our work, I felt like I could do literally anything and nothing was scary.

IF YOUR MAKEUP KIT WAS A LOADOUT, WHAT'S THE ONE ITEM YOU'D NEVER GO INTO BATTLE WITHOUT?

Glitter!!!!

WHAT'S YOUR MOST MEMORABLE CO-OP EXPERIENCE? (A COLLABORATION WITH A MODEL, PHOTOGRAPHER, OR CREATIVE TEAM THAT FELT PERFECTLY SYNCED??

I’ve been lucky enough to get hired as a creative makeup artist for every project I do but in the last year I have been working with Katy Perry a lot and she just gets it. We flow on the same makeup wavelength. We do everything from clean makeup, to sophisticated makeup to fun glittery show makeup. Every itch is scratched and she’s always open to collaborating and my ideas as well. That is so rare to find.

WHEN WORKING WITH HIGH-PROFILE TALNT, HOW DO YOU BALANCE THEIR CHARACTER BUILD WITH YOUR CREATIVE VISION?

It always depends on where they are going, what we are shooting and what the outfit is. I've been doing this long enough to know when to step away and let the hair or styling shine. It can get overwhelming if it's HAIR MAKEUP DRESS all in one. It all needs to be balanced. It's always a collaboration between all departments. It's really fun!! I can't believe I get to do this for a living.

WHAT'S YOUR PRE-GAME RITUAL BEFORE A MAJOR SHOOT OR SHOW? HOW DO YOU GET INTO THE ZONE?

I have a specific playlist I play in my car, I roll the windows down and scream sing until I get to set and then act like nothing happened.
